An egg-shaped ewer with a high-loop snake handle and a “Vestal Virgin at the sacrificial altar” relief. Gilt lines and accents. The Neoclassical relief was modelled separately and could have been used on individual forms using the same technique that Wedgwood started to use on his products in 1770s.

The ewer is derived from a bisque service (Services aus Biskuitporzellan mit antikisierenden Reliefs) featuring other popular motifs, such as Venus in the Clouds, Castor and Pollux, Ganymede, the Dancing Graces, and others.
